Two days ago it was 105 degrees here.
That was the hottest day ever recorded.
Just hearing that said frightens me because I do not want to live any where when the weather is the hottest or coldest EVER recorded.
It sounds so unnatural and wrong.
Actually, more like scary.
I must say I was so pleased when I woke up and saw clouds and temperatures in the low-sixties.
The weather gods listened to our chants and massive begging.
It felt so good this morning to function without sweating.
However, it did not last long because by this afternoon it was close to 90, but that is so much better feeling than one hundred degrees.
And yes, I am a weather wuss.
That is why I choose to live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest - or so I thought.

yes, I am using the heat as an excuse
I have not had the energy to sit at the computer long enough to put cohesive thoughts together.
The summer heat is getting to me.
Today we were around 86 degrees.
That is 10 degrees warmer than usual, and truly, for me, that it quite warm enough.
However, in the days to come, we are going to reach 95 and beyond.
And that is suppose to last all week!!!
Really, we cannot handle this.
We live in the Pacific Northwest, not the South Pacific.
We need a some showers to keep us green and plush.
I guess tomorrow I will teach the kids a rain dance.

Daria and the rock
Daria is attending a vacation bible school with her friends from school this week.
The theme is "The Son of Rock" this year.
Today they made necklaces with a pretty rock hanging from it.
I asked Daria and her friend as I was taking them home what the rock meant.
(I knew it was a symbol for Jesus, I just wanted to see if they did.)
Both girls told me that it was suppose to be Jesus, but they really did not understand how Jesus was a rock.
I tried to explain that Jesus is solid like a rock - maybe that would help them.
Well, Daria piped up and said, "Jesus is not in the rock. He is in heaven with Skoonus, Kramer, and Ms. Piggy."
(You see, those are some cats we have had that have passed away and went to kitty heaven.)
Sometimes Daria is so right on.

crappy
Today has been such a Monday.
Bauer woke up at 5:30 am crying and just being a fuss bucket all morning.
That is not a good way to begin a day, and it just did not get any better from there.
When we went to pick up Daria's friend for summer camp, her family forgot, so she was not ready to go at all.
I spoke to them 3 times on the matter, but it did not matter because we were not tardy.
After that, there were just bumps in the road all Monday long.
Little things that would make me grumble and wish it was time to go to bed, so I could start anew tomorrow.
The day is finally winding down and of course, there was just one more glitch to end the day.
Computer woes.
Luckily, I was able to fix them. I do not know what I did, but I am in cyber-land and not questioning how I arrived.
Maybe the Monday funk if finally leaving....bye, bye.

trip to the big city
On Monday, Daria and I went to Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.
Daria next to the glass - I know it looks like they are next to each other.
I do not know what I did to make the picture turn out this way. It must have been the angle of the camera in relation to the sunshine. Who cares because the picture rocks!

I just love this one. I want to give the bear a big ol' hug. Such a cutie!!!
We parked the car at the park and ride and rode the bus.
It was fun and so simple because the bus dropped us off right in front of the zoo.
We spent the whole morning and early afternoon there.
We packed our lunches and ate in the park.
Daria and I had a blast.
It was her first trip to Seattle, and she was impressed with all the buildings and the mass amounts of people who are just going and going.
Here are some of our favorite pictures from our day.

summer vacation photo
We are all trying to save money this summer season, so last Monday, we went to our local zoo and rode camels. It was much more economical than travelling to India or Egypt.

It was our first time, and it was strange and fun.
It was something I have always wanted to do, and I never thought I would be able to do it 10 minutes from my home.

lazy
I have been a bit lazy around here.
Shame on me.
It is summer, and all my time is spent trying to find fun, cheap, and educational activities for Daria.
And that is challenging, I tell ya.
I cannot wait for her day camp to begin in a couple of weeks.
That will help break up the day, and bring on a few playdates.
Next week, I believe she has a birthday party that is an over-nighter. She is stoked about that.
I have not really developed a good summer day schedule yet because we started off our vacation with colds, so I am finally catching up on things.
I hope by next week I can have a good summer rhythm going.
